Celebrate Savings During Alaska’s 50th Anniversary

I’ve been an Alaska resident for 43 years and in Alaska tourism since 1983 and I can’t ever recall having as many reasons to be excited about Alaska as what it has to offer visitors this summer. Alaska is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of Statehood this year.  Many communities and businesses are finding ways to recognize this event.  Alaska Tour & Travel is recognizing the Anniversary by giving away Sydney Laurence’s “Legacy of Alaska” print signed by all of Alaska’s living governors to one lucky photographer who sends in the winning photograph of their Alaska vacation to us.  It’s sure to be a fun way to share Alaska travel experiences and we’re looking forward to sharing all the submissions with you on our photo website.  In addition, the Park Connection Motorcoach is giving free rides if your turning 50 years old this year; Everyone else can save $10 off per person on the Park Connection all season long by choosing our Denali Express and Seward Express departures.

Alaska cruising has never been cheaper and with some of the cruise lines reducing the number of voyages to the State in 2010, rates will certainly be higher next year so take advantage of the savings now.  We highly recommend Gulf of Alaska cruises from Vancouver to either Seward or Whittier. Check out our Alaska Cruise Finder for more information or visit Alaska Cruise Quotes to request a cruise quote.   A Gulf of Alaska cruise is a great way to travel to Alaska but to really experience The Last Frontier you’ll want to extend your stay in Alaska by visiting such places as Denali National Park and Kenai Fjords National Park.

For travelers who are just beginning to plan their Alaska land tour there isn’t a better time to begin than now!  Many travelers have been holding off on booking their summer travel so there has never been better availability at Alaska’s most popular destinations along with some of the hidden gems which by now are usually booked up for the season – such as Kenai River Princess Lodge or Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge.  Both of these lodges are among the best in Alaska and are fantastic base camps for your summer’s adventures.

Many Alaska tour operators have created specials which can be included in our custom travel packages, but note, some of the specials have limited availability or must be booked prior to the beginning of the season so you’ll want to take advantage of them while they last.  Just ask our Alaska Travel Experts which web specials are the best values for this season and if you’re using our Alaska Trip Planner be sure to include them in your itineraries.

Alaska Tour & Travel is excited about our newest opportunity to provide additional value to Alaska travelers.  We’re offering Double Alaska Airline Miles on travel packages!  For a limited time we’re offering two Alaska Air miles for every one dollar spent on vacation packages of four nights or longer that also include transportation such as the Alaska Railroad as well as one activity such as a Denali Park tour.

This is a great year to visit Alaska – More flexibility on dates and availability, great values and special deals that can be included in custom travel packages, and now you can recoup some of the cost of airfare to Alaska by receiving Alaska Airline miles for your land tours. All during Alaska’s 50th Anniversary of Statehood!

Wow! Until now I was rather blah about turning 50 this year! But we are planning my first trip to Alaska (and my husband’s first return to the land of his birth since 1970! and we get to bring our 4 boys!) THANK YOU for the news on a discount this year for my birthday! I was wondering if you have heard of any other specials we should take in? We will fly into Fairbanks, take the train to Anchorage and fly back out to Kansas from there. Thanks!
